Managing Editor (Legal)    Location: NOIDA

LLB/LLM - 4 to 7 years of relevant exp. in editorial management & project development, including new products, and team management. Editorial planning, creating and maintaining content, & managing production. Responsible for timely publication of print products. Position reports to Publishing Head.

The position is to manage the content for both Print and Electronic media

  • To manage existing product range and implement new product development across different Subjects of Law.
  • The product portfolio would include books, journals and online platform.
  • Assist the Publishing Head in discharging all responsibilities.

Monetary measures

  • To work within agreed editorial budget for existing and new products and to forecast expenditure as required.

Non-monetary measures

  • Develop new products as specified in budget and strategic plan.
  • Develop and motivate the staff in the portfolio’s team to ensure that all operational targets are met.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure editors and outside contributors produce accurate and up to date material and that it is published to the agreed schedule.
  • To ensure the development of new products within the portfolio on schedule and according to budget and profitability targets.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules.
  • Ensure all new products have product proposals & are adequately researched.
  • Regular audit of the electronic product to ensure there are no deviations and anomalies.

Academics

  • BALLB/ LLB from a reputed University/ Institute.

Requisites

  • Domain Knowledge is must (Lawyer)
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Hands on approach with Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Editorial Content Analyst    Location: NOIDA, Chennai, Hyderabad

LLB/ Commerce/ Economics Graduate – Between 1 to 2 years exp. Analyse source material. Prepare value added abstracts; carry out editorial enhancements and quality analysis of online content; production of print journals; Interest in varying subjects of economics, finance, world news, law, tax etc. required.

Accountabilities

  • Analyze source material, perform background research and describe topical highlights to enable enhanced customer access.
  • Perform high quality assurance tasks. Review accuracy and completeness of source materials, electronic conversions, and editorial content prior to publication.
  • Review and analyse caselaws to identify disposition , language, points of law and determine precedential value to support Manupatra print and online legal research products.
  • Production of print journals involving selection of Judgments, writing/ vetting head notes, carrying our editorial enhancements, liaison with authors for articles, co-ordinating with vendors and freelancers for meeting deadlines, proof reading.
  • Analyze and leverage the information and use it in various formats to create products which differentiate Manupatra in the market.
  • Master software and editorial tools necessary to perform duties.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of product breadth and scope in order to make independent decisions regarding product content and editorial value-add.

Head-note writer
BA.LLB/ LLB from a reputed University with atleast 6 months of experience.
 Writing head-notes for judgments of Supreme Court, High Courts and tribunals as part of editorial enhancements and quality analysis of judgments online (www.manupatra.com) and print journals involving selection of Judgments, writing/ vetting head notes and carrying out other editorial enhancements.
Distills relevant information from judgments into crisp and concise head-notes.
Develop in-depth knowledge of product breadth and scope in order to make independent decisions regarding product content and editorial value-add.
Required an aptitude for sifting through volumes of data and an analytical bent to identify and cull out the relevant legal issues, holding and ratio decidendi of a judgment.
Interest and appetite for varied subject areas of law.

Nature of job

  • Min head notes to be written 10 per working day (passed by QC)
  • Over 10 head notes per day Rs 70/- per head note additional variable,/li>
  • Timings : 9 am to 6 pm
  • 2 and 4 sat off
  • 10 head notes have to be completed everyday . else person has to sit beyond working hours to complete the no 10..
